Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF (COUNTS FOR 2 HOURS)

What: Raise money for the UNICEF Eliminate Project to vaccinate mothers against maternal neonatal tetanus! Carry the Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF box with you, dress up in a fun costume, and go raise money for a good cause! Every $1.60 you collect protects a mother and her future children against MNT. $1 can provide a child with 40 days of clean, safe drinking water. $5 can bring a malnourished child back to health. Club goal: $250.

When: Anytime, deadline to turn in boxes is November 10th. You can receive 2 service hours for your fundraising if you take photos of yourself “in action” and trick-or-treating.


Sacramento Zoo: Boo at the Zoo

What: Help the Sacramento Zoo put on a spook-tacular Halloween Festival where kids will get to trick-or-treat, play games and participate in a costume dance party. Volunteers can help with event set-up and tear-down or be involved during the event with tasks such as handing out candy at candy stations. Volunteers ages 13-14 must serve with a parent or guardian, and all other volunteers ages 15 and up are welcome! Come ready to make it a fun evening!

When: October 30th and October 31st from 5PM – 8PM

Where: Sacramento Zoo

Florin High School Awake-a-thon (COUNTS FOR 2 HOURS)

What: Division 7 South Monsters' Florin High School Key Club has invited our division to their 5th Annual Awake-A-Thon! This Awake- A-Thon is a 12 hour event with the purpose of raising money for the Eliminate Project and the Kiwanis Family House. This year, the event will consist of a rally with a spirit stick, spirit battles, dances, costume contests, service opportunities, sports tournaments, karaoke, and much more! This will not count for 2 service hours.

When: October 31, 7PM – November 1st, 7 AM. 2 service hours.

Where: Florin High School

Signup By: Email me by October 26, 11:59 PM and sign up on our website. Pledge minimum is $30, if you raise $40 you get an Awake-a- thon T-shirt.


Lorzo’s Magical Halloween Carnival

2014-10-28

What: Approximately 50 volunteers will be needed for various activities including games, crafts, preparation, set up, and decorating, so you are more than welcome to come help set-up at 1pm. The mandatory volunteer meeting is scheduled for 3:15 PM inside the Howe Park Community Center.

When: October 31st, set up starts at 1PM; event itself is 3:00 PM to 6:30 PM.

Fall Craft Fair

What: Mira Loma Key Club’s annual Fall Craft Fair is one of the biggest fundraisers we have for the UNICEF Eliminate Project, which aims to eliminate maternal neonatal tetanus from the world. Donate baked goods/other foods, and get service hours based on how long you spent making it/soliciting donations!

When: November 1st, 7:30 am – 3 pm. Come drop off donations!

Where: Mission Oaks Community Center, 4701 Gibbons Drive

Beaujolais Plus

What: This is an art auction and wine tasting fundraiser hosted by our very own sponsoring Kiwanis, the Sacramento Suburban Kiwanis! They do a lot to help us throughout the year, so it is very important that we support them whenever and however we can. Key Club T-shirt required.

When: November 2st, 2:30 PM – 7 PM.

California International Marathon

What: Come volunteer at this huge annual marathon with over 14,000 runners from all over the world. Volunteer duties include Registration / Packet Pick-Up, Expo, Start, Line, Finish Line, Course Monitor, On-Course Fluid Stations, and Relay Challenge

When: December 4 – 7, depending on shift.

Where: Sacramento Convention Center (13th street entrance), other locations depending on shift.

California Assembly Event

What: Volunteers will help the K to College organization assemble 10,000 school and dental supply kits that will be given to homeless children across the state. Free T-shirt and snacks will be provided.

When: December 7, 10 AM-1PM, 1PM – 4PM, and/or 4PM – 7PM

Sacramento Tree Foundation: Acorn and Seed Harvesting

2014-10-11

What: Help the Sacramento Tree Foundation harvest acorns and other native plant seeds to reforest the Stone Lakes National Wildlife Refuge. Volunteers will hike 3-4 miles on level terrain to collect valley oak acorns and California black walnuts. The location is somewhat remote; volunteers will need to use a map to find the meeting location and look for and follow signs as they approach the area.

When: October 18, 9AM – 12 PM
